Reported byNew Atlas ↗·Sourced by Goodlede
Toyota's Gazoo Racing team will enter a hydrogen fuel-cell Hilux truck in the 2027 Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia, replacing the twin-turbo petrol V6 with a zero-emission hydrogen powertrain. It's the first time a major manufacturer has chosen hydrogen power for the famous desert race.
The vehicle is currently undergoing rigorous testing; the actual race debut is January 2027.
