The FDA Just Approved The First US Freeze-Dried Plasma, Ready in Minutes

The US FDA has licensed Ezplaz Freeze Dried Plasma, the first FDA-approved freeze-dried plasma in the United States, which can be stored at room temperature and reconstituted for transfusion in about 2.5 minutes—a major advance for emergency medicine in remote or austere settings where conventional frozen plasma is impractical.

Ezplaz is approved only for adults when other plasma products are unavailable; it carries the same risks as conventional plasma transfusions, including allergic reactions and blood-type incompatibility.
