New Treatment Strategy Makes Cancer Cells Run Out of Energy and Die
Reported bySciTechDaily ↗·Sourced by Goodlede
Researchers at University of Gothenburg and Case Western Reserve University developed a combination of AcTor and ixazomib that forces leukemia cells to remain active while blocking their energy production, causing them to experience fatal stress; tests in lab cells, patient samples, and mice showed effectiveness against aggressive TP53-mutant AML that typically resists treatment.
Tested in laboratory cells, patient-derived samples, and mice. Not yet tested in human patients. More research is needed before clinical use.
