Crews finishing new wildlife crossing in southeast Idaho to protect migrating deer

The Rocky Point Wildlife Underpass near Montpelier, Idaho, featuring three underpasses and extensive fencing, is nearing completion this fall after a $20.8 million federal grant. The project aims to stop the loss of at least 100 deer per year to highway collisions and represents a partnership between state transportation, fish and game agencies, conservation groups, and local officials.

The underpass is still under construction; completion is expected this fall.
