Child poverty declines worldwide - 100 million fewer in 10 years

The number of children living in extreme poverty fell from 507 million in 2014 to 412 million in 2024—a reduction of 95 million children. South Asia more than halved its child poverty during the decade, with India accounting for the largest regional reduction.

Sub-Saharan Africa, which contains three-quarters of the world's extremely poor children, saw no improvement over this period; gains were concentrated in South Asia and East Asia.
