A team from Harvard University and Tokyo University, led by physics graduate student Noah Toyonaga, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences an algorithm for designing collapsible scissored structures and pantographic lattices that can expand and contract using rods and joints, demonstrated through 3D-printed physical prototypes.
