Researchers at UAB's High Mountain Archaeology Group assembled carbon-14 dates from 45 sites in Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park showing continuous human occupation above 2,000 meters for more than 10,000 years, with the Obagues de Ratera rock shelter used from the Mesolithic through the 20th century and the oldest architectural remains dating back 5,000 years.
