Zebra sharks become the world's first rewilded sharks after 82 pups are released
Reported byCNN ↗·Sourced by Goodlede
Eighty-two Indo-Pacific leopard sharks (zebra sharks), bred at a dozen aquariums worldwide through the ReShark program, have been released in the Dampier Strait in Indonesia in a first-of-its-kind rewilding initiative for this endangered species.
The release is recent; long-term survival rates and breeding success in the wild remain to be documented.
