Warning signs could predict inflammatory bowel disease a decade before diagnosis
Reported byGuardian Science ↗·Sourced by Goodlede
Scientists at University Medical Centre Groningen and Mount Sinai found that patterns of antibodies in blood may predict inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis) up to a decade before symptoms appear, potentially enabling earlier intervention.
This is not yet a diagnostic test that can predict whether someone will become ill. More research is needed to develop this into a clinical tool.
