Reported bySecretNYC ↗·Sourced by Goodlede
New dedicated carpool, taxi, rideshare and bus lanes on the Van Wyck Expressway opened October 23, 2026, along a 4.3-mile stretch between Kew Gardens and JFK Airport. The $1.4 billion project also rebuilt 23 bridges, added longer ramps, installed new traffic management technology, and built a $135 million double-barrel sewer to address chronic flooding in southeast Queens.
Enforcement details and operating hours for the new lanes have not yet been announced.
