Tiny robot harvests battery power via skin on its feet
Reported byNew Atlas ↗·Sourced by Goodlede
Researchers at Fudan University have developed a paper-thin electrochemical polymer membrane that lets crawling microrobots generate electricity directly from the ground as they walk, eliminating the need for heavy onboard batteries that previously consumed 94% of a robot's weight.
Laboratory demonstration. Real-world applications to rescue and inspection robots remain in development.
