Researchers have developed an AI tool trained on millions of patient ECGs that can identify heart failure in up to 81% of cases and heart valve disease in up to 90% of cases from routine electrocardiogram readings, presented at the European Society of Cardiology's annual congress in Munich.
The trial involved 67,000 patients in the US; clinical translation to widespread NHS use will require further testing and approval.
