Smart wallpaper harvests electricity from indoor humidity
Reported byNew Atlas ↗·Sourced by Goodlede
Researchers at Binghamton University have developed wallpaper made from laser-drilled paper that converts ambient indoor humidity into electricity. The moist-electric generator maintains stable power in indoor environments where humidity remains between 30 and 60 percent, a major improvement over outdoor generators that yield only microwatts per square centimeter.
The technology is at the laboratory stage using lab-grade paper; commercial viability and real-world installation timelines are not yet established.
