Scientists create a needle-thin brain implant that can do three jobs at once
Reported byScienceDaily ↗·Sourced by Goodlede
Researchers from DTU, University of Copenhagen, and University College London have developed the microfluidic Axialtrode, a flexible needle-thin implant that records neural activity, delivers medication, and stimulates multiple brain regions simultaneously, with successful tests completed in mice.
The technology is currently a research tool; extensive testing, development, and regulatory approval would be required before clinical use in patients.
