Rights of Nature spreads as councils adopt River Avon Charter
Reported byOceanographic Magazine ↗·Sourced by Goodlede
Eleven councils across the River Avon catchment have unanimously adopted a Bioregional Charter recognizing the river as a living entity with rights, with more than 20 similar charters now spreading across the UK and over 40 community groups adopting or starting conversations about them.
This is a community-led charter adopted at local policy level, not a court ruling or constitutional amendment granting full legal personhood.
