Purple is the new white for 'cool' summer fashion

Researchers from Zhengzhou, Adelaide, South Australia, and Central China Normal universities developed a purple-hued fabric using a metal-organic framework (ZIF-67) and zinc oxide nanoparticles that reflects 88% of incident sunlight and releases thermal energy more efficiently than white fabric, solving the long-standing tradeoff between cooling performance and appearance.
The fabric is a laboratory achievement; commercial availability and scalability to real-world garment production remain to be demonstrated.
