Protective enzyme could stop fatty liver disease from worsening
Reported byScienceDaily ↗·Sourced by Goodlede
Cedars-Sinai researchers identified an enzyme called UBE2N that declines as fatty liver disease advances; restoring it to normal levels in laboratory mice reduced fat accumulation, inflammation and scarring, suggesting a potential treatment target for preventing progression to the more serious condition MASH.
This is preclinical research tested in mice. Human trials would be needed to determine safety and effectiveness.
