Porsche produces cathode active materials from recycled raw materials

Porsche and battery recycling startup Cylib have successfully produced battery cells whose cathode active materials—lithium, nickel, cobalt, and manganese—are sourced entirely from recycled materials recovered from Porsche's own end-of-life high-voltage batteries. These cells are now undergoing testing in Porsche trial vehicles, with initial tests already demonstrating technical suitability.
This is still in pilot phase; the cells are being tested in trial vehicles with results expected later in 2026. Series production use depends on further validation.
