Wildlife enthusiast Majid Batebi set up camera traps in Mazandaran province in northern Iran and recorded rare footage of a Pallas's cat—an extremely elusive Central Asian wild feline so rarely documented that it wasn't first photographed until 2012 and remains poorly understood, with an estimated 60,000 remaining in the wild.
The Pallas's cat's habitat is increasingly threatened by overgrazing, mining, and herding dogs.
