The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) released an updated Corporate Net-Zero Standard in summer 2026 that explicitly includes nature-based climate solutions as an eligible activity alongside engineered emissions removals, opening a credible path for corporate investment in high-integrity nature projects through mid-century.
Direct emissions reductions remain the priority; nature-based solutions work alongside decarbonization, not instead of it.
