NASA's Perseverance Mars rover sets distance record
Reported byPopular Science ↗·Sourced by Goodlede
NASA's Perseverance rover has traveled 28.10 miles across Mars—farther than any vehicle in history—in less than six years, compared to the previous record held by Opportunity rover which took 15 years. The rover accomplished this almost entirely autonomously using its AutoNav self-piloting system and continues toward Jezero Crater's western rim, with operations approved through at least 2028.
