Mozambique protects Mount Mabu 'butterfly forest'

Mozambique has formally protected Mount Mabu, a 9,341-hectare forest hotspot in northern Mozambique home to more than 200 butterfly species, by creating the Mount Mabu Community Conservation Area with stewardship granted to local communities who have preserved the forest for generations.
The community management plan defining specific restrictions on activities has not yet been finalized.
