The NHS is rolling out Martha's Rule, named after Martha Mills who died of sepsis in 2021 after her family's concerns were not heard, to all hospital emergency departments in England starting now with completion expected by March 2028. During an eight-month pilot at seven trusts, 69 calls led to urgent reviews, some resulting in immediate surgery or intensive care transfers.
Rollout to all departments is underway but will not be complete until March 2028.
