Life Jacket on the Dog, None on the Owner—But Both Were Rescued From Oregon River
Reported byOutside ↗·Sourced by Goodlede
On October 16, 2026, a woman and her small dog, Gizmo, capsized in Oregon's Clackamas River near Portland. With water temperatures at 53.6 degrees, only Gizmo was wearing a life jacket. Estacada Fire District rescue crews recovered both within ten minutes, and both escaped without injury.
The dog's life jacket may have saved his life, but the woman's quick thinking in calling for help and the fortunate location of a direct trail to her position were equally critical.
