Two immigrant-led costureros—needlework circles of Latin American women—in Northwestern Queens have created living archives through collaborative textile work. BordeAndo, founded in 2018, and Las Comadres Bordadoras, founded in 2021, bring together undocumented working-class women ranging in age from 30 to 83 to embroider, share stories, and document their histories through thread.
