Claire Park, forced to retire as head teacher of Hartburn Primary School in Stockton after a January 2025 motor neurone disease diagnosis, has fulfilled a years-long vision to refurbish the school playground. Former colleagues, friends and businesses raised over £100,000 to construct the £89,000 park—featuring a shed, flower beds, climbing frames and astroturf—and provide additional funds to the MND Association. Now named Mrs Park's Park, the space opened on September 5, 2026.
