Global Birdfair funding gives new hope to São Tomé and Príncipe's rarest birds

A US$150,000 donation from Global Birdfair is funding conservation work for three Critically Endangered birds found nowhere else on Earth: the Dwarf Ibis, São Tomé Grosbeak, and Newton's Fiscal, two of which may number fewer than 250 individuals.

One species, Newton's Fiscal, disappeared from scientific records for over a century before rediscovery; the funding supports research and knowledge-building as much as immediate protection.
