Family Sells 650 Acres on East Texas Lake to Become State Park
Reported byTexas Parks and Wildlife Foundation ↗·Sourced by Goodlede
The Pollard family, which owned 650 acres on Lake Palestine since 1940, sold the property to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation for more than $10 million on October 1, 2026. The land—home to native East Texas pine forests, wildlife habitat, and pecan orchards—will become a public state park in late 2027, expanding public access to the lake.
The land transfer to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is expected in late 2027 when additional Centennial Parks Conservation Fund becomes available.
