Ebola at 100 Days: Lessons, Challenges and Achievements

The DRC's Ebola outbreak has seen 1,200 people cured of the disease, with hospital stays reduced from 18–21 days to 5–10 days thanks to improvements in diagnostics and equipment. Laboratory capacity has expanded from one testing site to 19 labs capable of processing over 3,000 samples daily, and 1,300+ beds and 900+ health facilities now support the response.

The case fatality rate remains at 48%, with over 5,500 confirmed cases and 2,642 deaths; 60% of recent deaths still occur outside treatment centres. Health experts warn the response must accelerate further.
