A five-year research study of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library—which mails free age-appropriate books monthly to children birth to age 5 in Australia, Canada, the UK, US, and Ireland—found enrolled children in Australia were 9 times more likely to be interested in books, 17 times more likely to join in shared reading, and 6 times more likely to show key literacy skills than non-enrolled peers. The program has distributed 318 million books to date.
