The Bald Head Island Conservancy received a three-year, $424,582 federal grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services to expand hands-on coastal conservation training. The funding will support 75 high school volunteers, 44 undergraduate interns, 12 post-baccalaureate technicians, and 3 graduate fellows, with a new field-based partnership with Brunswick Community College beginning in 2027.
The first grant-supported cohorts begin in 2027; the training programs are being built now.
