Ancient Egyptian paint contained far more complex ingredients than previously assumed

A new study published in Science Advances reveals that organic materials in ancient Egyptian wall paintings, wooden coffins and limestone reliefs—including paint binders and adhesives—were more sophisticated than previously understood, explaining why these artworks have retained their vibrant colors for millennia.
