An ambitious new project in Florida is giving marine scientists hope: 'I just see so much potential'

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and its charitable arm announced creation of a 'coastal corridor'—an interconnected chain of ocean-based projects designed to preserve and nourish vulnerable marine creatures, replicating the success of the state's 18-million-acre wildlife corridor established in 2021. The project includes habitat restoration, fisheries enhancement, artificial reefs, oyster beds, seagrass and mangrove work across Florida's Atlantic and Gulf coasts.

This is an announced initiative; full implementation and outcomes will take time to measure.
