After nearly 170 years, New Yorkers can climb this rare 47-foot fire watchtower, ring its 5,000-pound bell, and see Harlem from above for free

The Mount Morris Fire Watchtower, the last surviving cast-iron watchtower from NYC's 19th-century fire-warning system completed in 1857, opens to the public on October 18 during Open House New York Weekend for free climbs of its spiral staircase and a chance to ring its historic 5,000-pound bronze bell cast in 1865.
This is a one-time event during OHNY Weekend; regular public access is not announced.
