17-year-old builds AI tools to help paralysis patients recover after his own accident

After a 2022 accident left him paralysed at 14, Arnav Maharshi developed FAIR Chance, an AI app tracking fine motor movements, and the Active Hand Wristband to aid rehabilitation. Both tools are in clinical trials with 30 and 20 patients respectively, and he received the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar in Science and Technology in 2025.
The tools are currently in clinical trials; wider availability and long-term efficacy data are not yet available.
