$15.5m fund launched to create momentum toward ending FGM worldwide

The Wallace Global Fund has seeded a new Her Horizon Fund with $14m, plus $1.5m from an anonymous donor, aiming to pool $100m total to reach a 'tipping point' toward eliminating female genital mutilation within a generation. The fund arrives as UN-UNFPA-UNICEF joint programmes saw their funding fall 45% last year, from $29.6m to $16.3m.
The $100m target has not yet been reached; the current commitment is $15.5m toward that goal. The UN's 2030 elimination target is not on track.
