'Smart' dressing made from plants delivers antibiotics before infections take hold

University of Bath researchers developed a plant-based wound dressing that reduced biofilm formation by more than 90% within four hours in lab tests, using a two-layer design that releases tetracycline directly into wounds.

Further development and clinical testing are needed before the dressing can be used in healthcare settings.
