Two previously unknown snail species, Cochlostoma komarnica and Cochlostoma dobrido, were formally described on July 27, 2026, in Biodiversity Data Journal after discovery by Taxon Expeditions citizen scientists and researchers working in Montenegro's Durmitor National Park and Komarnica Canyon from 2018 to 2025, strengthening the scientific case for protecting the unprotected Komarnica Canyon from a planned hydropower dam.
