Scientists discover the brain cells that keep you motivated
Reported byScienceDaily ↗·Sourced by Goodlede
Researchers at Nagoya University identified orexin neurons as key to sustained motivation in goal-directed behavior. Blocking their activity weakened motivation in rats; activating them increased willingness to work. The finding may help explain motivational difficulties in depression, addiction, and ADHD.
The findings are from rat models; clinical translation in humans will require further research.
