Researchers develop first synthetic mitral valve model to replicate the heart's natural mechanics

Researchers at RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences created the first artificial mitral valve model that accurately mimics the valve's complex mechanical behavior, advancing understanding of valve disease and enabling development of new treatment approaches.

This is a model development study—it does not yet prove new treatments will be effective in human patients or that valve disease outcomes will improve clinically.
