Perovskite Solar Cells Will Make Solar Power Even Cheaper

Reported byCleanTechnica ↗·Sourced by Goodlede

What backs it

German researchers at HZB (Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin) have developed a new perovskite-graphene triple-junction solar cell that improves durability by replacing standard conductive polymers with graphene-based formulas, advancing commercialization of perovskite technology. Earlier work in 2025 demonstrated 23.3% efficiency in tandem perovskite-silicon cells. Perovskite cells can be printed or sprayed like ink using standard roll-to-roll manufacturing, offering significant cost and supply-chain advantages over silicon.

Worth noting

Perovskite solar cells have historically faced durability challenges; commercial-scale deployment and long-term reliability in field conditions remain under development.
