New species of seahorse identified after eluding scientists for over a century

Scientists examining bycatch at Tuticorin harbour in southern India identified Hippocampus amandavincentae, a seahorse species hidden in plain sight for more than 100 years, its range extending across the Indian Ocean from Mozambique to the Red Sea to India; the study was published in Zootaxa and the species was named after marine biologist Dr. Amanda Vincent.
