Montenegro's government has adopted a Natura 2000 ecological network proposal covering more than half the country's land territory plus marine areas, comprising 58 Sites of Community Importance (5,220 km²), 32 Special Protection Areas for birds (5,104 km²), and 7 marine sites, protecting species including Dalmatian Pelicans, Pygmy Cormorants, and Golden Eagles across forests, karst mountains, coastlines, and wetlands.
