Marmots on OnlyFans: Researchers turn to the internet for funding

The Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory, which has tracked yellow-bellied marmots since 1962 in the second-longest study of individually identifiable wild mammals, launched an OnlyFans account called OnlyMarms in June to crowdfund research after NSF grants were frozen, with the account now posting regular educational content and organizing Fat Marmot Week to engage public support.

This is a creative fundraising response to budget cuts; the underlying research funding crisis remains unresolved.
