How parents and pupils took on 'cruel', 'authoritarian' schools - and won

The Athena Learning Trust, which runs six secondary schools in Devon and Cornwall attended by about 6,500 children, has announced plans to disband and transfer all its schools to other trusts after sustained parent and pupil campaigns against punitive discipline policies that damaged students' health and wellbeing.

The transfer plan is announced but implementation and outcome at receiving trusts remain to be seen.
