Lluís Domènech i Montaner designed Hospital Sant Pau (begun 1902) as the world's largest Art Nouveau complex, with nearly 30 colorful pavilions, gardens, and deliberately therapeutic architectural features that deliberately integrated healing through beauty and nature—a revolutionary approach at the time. The complex was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997 and has been restored for public visitation.
