First-of-Its-Kind Lupus Treatment Significantly Reduces Symptoms in Mice

University of Texas researchers identified Faecalibacterium prausnitzii, a gut bacterium depleted in lupus patients, and showed oral supplementation successfully reduced multiple biomarkers of the condition in mice models, with positive changes visible in kidneys and spleen.

This is early-stage research in mice; human trials remain ahead. Lupus still has no cure, though this points toward a promising therapeutic avenue.
