Father Robert Athickal, a Jesuit priest, spent nearly four decades developing Tarumitra ('Friends of Trees'), a student environmental movement founded in Patna in 1988 that grew into one of India's largest youth conservation organizations, involving hundreds of thousands of young people across schools and colleges in tree-planting, habitat restoration, organic farming, and environmental advocacy.
