Colorado Governor Signs Artist Corporation Bill into State Law
Reported byARTnews ↗·Sourced by Goodlede
Colorado Governor Jared Polis signed Senate Bill 133 on June 2, creating a new Artist Company (A-Corp) LLC structure that guarantees artists retain 51% voting control, protects intellectual property from transfer to non-artists, allows equity building through artistic contributions, and will have standardized affordable forms by July 1, 2027. Colorado is the first U.S. state to establish this structure.
Does not prove widespread adoption or long-term economic impact; does not demonstrate that artists will actually use the structure or that it will meaningfully improve artist financial outcomes; early-stage implementation with forms not yet available.
