Nuremberg completed a largely CO₂-free demolition of a 7,000-square-metre former nursery site using a fully electric fleet: a Volvo EC230 Electric excavator, ECR18 Electric compact excavator, L20 Electric wheeled loader, and FM Electric roll-off truck, all powered by regular construction site electricity with no special charging infrastructure required.
This follows a similar 2025 demolition project in nearby Erlangen; the approach is becoming established practice in the region, not an innovation.
